How to play
Step 1
Choose a genre
Drama, Comedy, Action, Horror or Sci-Fi. It changes who is right for each part.
Step 2
Cast the four actors
Lead actor, lead actress, supporting actor and supporting actress.
Step 3
Hire the crew
Director, writer, composer and cinematographer, with whatever the cast left in the budget.
Step 4
Release it
Name the film and see how critics, audiences, the box office and the awards treat it.
Casting with consequences
A dream cast on paper is easy: take the five most famous people you can think of. Here each of them has a price, and the budget has to stretch to a director, a writer, a composer and a cinematographer as well. The interesting choices are the trade-offs. Do you spend on a second star, or on the director who makes the first one look better?
Every candidate card shows up to three films the person is known for, so you can cast on taste as well as on numbers. In Blind mode the numbers are hidden completely and you cast on instinct alone.
Why some casts click
Three things lift a cast above the sum of its parts. Genre fit: a brilliant dramatic actor is not automatically right for a horror film. Chemistry: pairs who have genuinely made films together bring a bonus, based on their shared credits. Balance: a film with one enormous star and seven bargains tends to please audiences more than critics.
The pool spans seven decades of cinema, from the 1950s to today, so your cast can put people together who never shared a set.
Show it off
When the film is released you get a result card to share, with its title, its scores and its box office. Send the link and a friend can cast from exactly the same candidates and try to beat you. The daily version hides the names in the shared text, so it never spoils the puzzle for someone who has not played yet.

- How many people can I choose from?
- The pool holds 600 real film professionals. Each round offers five of them for the job being filled.
- Can I pick anyone I like?
- You pick from the five candidates offered each round, and you can reroll the slate a limited number of times. That is what makes two games different.
- Are photos of the actors shown?
- No. People appear by name with the films they are known for. The game uses no photographs or posters.
- Is this an official or licensed product?
- No. It is an unofficial fan-made game, and all ratings, salaries and results are fictional.
